Leamington v. Reston

In town this afternoon to do some shopping it was quite sunny and Leamington's rather impressive Victorian Town hall was shown off to it's best advantage.

The sky was very bright and blue - even though a few minutes after this was taken some black clouds rolled in and a mixture of rain and hail pelted down.

Walking back to the car park we noticed a shaft of light which was illuminating a normally dark stained glass window from the back.

Meanwhile in Reston it is another very cold day and the snow is falling again..

Just passing through..

On my way back from Bath to Leamington today it was great to stop off in Pucklechurch to see Andrea, Steve, Clare and John and have lunch at 'The Old Dairy'.

A second very pleasant stop was at Tetbury to visit Alison, Bob and Henry for tea and a taste of Hobb's House Bakery!

May need to walk a few extra steps tomorrow!

Peeping Tom

This long-tailed tit makes frequent little flights from the feeder on Mum's balcony to the window frame - he then seems to peer in!

Not all attempts to photograph him have been very successful.

He doesn't tap or appear to be finding insects or drops of water.  Perhaps he can see his reflection?

Pulteney Bridge

In town this evening for a lovely catch-up with Jeanette at Clayton's Kitchen at 'The Porter' - rather different to the last time I was in there - probably 35 or more years ago!

Good to walk through familiar but quiet streets on the way back to the car and time for a quick night-time photo of Pulteney Bridge.

It was chilly in Bath this evening but certainly colder in Reston - tomorrow night looks a little brutal.  Again there is a thirty degree difference in the space of a few days..

The Colour of Spring?

Two yellow items which hold the promise of Spring..

Lovely fresh lemon wedges for pancakes - ready for the 'Pancake Lunch' today where I helped out (did the washing up!).

Beautiful early British (hopefully Cornish) daffodils, bursting from narrow buds and now jostling for space in the vase.

Welcome home!

This tiny but beautiful vase of flowers - snowdrops and miniature cyclamen from Mum's garden - awaited us in our room when we arrived on Sunday night.

In the space of a week..

Last Sunday I included in this blog a screen print of the remarkably warm temperature of 18C during the afternoon.

Today in Reston the afternoon temperature - above - shows a drop of an amazing 30 degrees!

We are of course not there to experience this cold snap - which looks set to last a little while....
